Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 資訊管理學研究所 === 96 === In our study, we use Data envelopment Analysis (DEA) to evaluate the management efficiency of 36 branch banks during year 1996. The variables combination of five input items(employment expense, bank location expense, handling charge, deposit and interest exchange) and five output items (interest return, loan, EBIT, commission income and profit on exchange) are analyzed to obtain the technical efficiency value, pure technical efficiency value and scale efficiency value of each branch bank. From our demonstration analysis we got the following results: according to the technical efficiency value, 15 branches (42%) are inefficient; according to the pure technical efficiency value, 8 branches (22%) are inefficient; according to the scale efficiency value, 15 branches (42%) are inefficient. 11 branches (31%) showed scale diminishing returns(“Pure technical efficiency value” is greater then “scale efficiency value”); this indicated the reason of inefficiency might because the scale inefficiency. 4 branches (11%) showed scale increasing returns(“Pure technical efficiency value” is less then “scale efficiency value”) ; this indicated the reason of inefficiency might because invested resources did not obtain its economic effectiveness. According to Slack Variable Analysis, 15 branches (42%) showed miss distance from target value. Through the results of these analyses, branch manager can find out the causes of inefficiency factors in order to figure out specific suggestion and strategy for improvements.
