The Peng-Lai River that had been protected from 2001 is one of upstream tributary of Chungkang River in Miaoli County. It turns into tour’s the main scenic spots of ecotourism due to comeliness scenic and have more than 5000~6000 tours in holiday; Recently year, there are many restaurant and B&B(Bed and Breakfast) around the steal river and upstream area; hence, thousand of tours will impact to the environment of river during the holiday.
In advanced research, it finds out the Peng-Lai River of water quality & environmental is belong to EPA(Environmental Protection Administration) commend of no class of pollution but it becomes to degradation symptom. During July, 2007 to March, 2008, it collects the data that the Peng-Lai River of water quality & environmental and tours. After analyzing, it shows negative the result from protecting the fishing footpath of dissolved oxygen and tours. For the basic judgment, it should be caused by a large number of tours for resting. Though ecological capacity of S curve proceed dissolved oxygen and tours, in maintaining dissolved oxygen and no class of pollution (Level A), the result that it shows this area can accept about 60000 tours; For a holiday, it would have 5200 tours and can provide 1200 tours for lodging. Although the amount of the tours is still in the range capacity but the river of water quality is getting worse. Therefore, the relate Dept. has to control the amount of exploitation in this area and helps to transformational. It can let ecological environment of the Peng-Lai River in sustainable development.
