The mathematics model of PMSG can be formulated easily but it is difficult to implement. Owing to the complexity and reciprocal effect of the variables, the parameters of PMSG are obtained hard by human calculation. Therefore, a generator design program is built by Visual Basic 6.0 to circumvent the problem. The parameters of the PMSG are convenient to acquire by the program. In addition, the electromagnetic field model of PMSG can be established through the parameters. The simulation software FLUX 2D is applied to setup the electromagnetic field model and analyses by finite-element analysis method. Furthermore, the cogging torque issue is also discussed in the thesis. It can be overcome by changing the arrangement of rotor permanent magnet. Finally, two different winding types of PMSG are tested to demonstrate its significance. The PMSG model is formulated, implemented and tested in the thesis. The implement results of PMSG are different with the simulation. Some factors like the characteristics of material etc. will influence the performance of PMSG.
