A Construction of Herbage Production Information Management System

Various arrangements for its operation are made by the owner on the basis of his personal experiences. Concerning about their planning to expand the scale of cultivating in herbage, this mode of operation could be difficult to manage the complicated production data in the future. And it will probably be difficult for the owner to educate the employees to share his operational tasks. The aim of this study is to construct a Herbage Production Management Information System to support the operational decision making of that herbage planting cooperative society, via the utilization of digital data recording, computing, forecasting, and planning. To achieve this purpose, first of all we reviewed relevant literature to comprehend the procedure of herbage ensiling system and tried to understand the proper timing for corn cultivating, harvesting and the quantity of yield on herbage. Owing to the incompletion of the data gathered from previous reports, it is difficult to summarize the data of cultivating harvesting and the quantity of yield by monthly, we designed a questionnaire and visit the cooperative society to administrate a field interview to figure out every procedure on its operation, and to collect the data needed to complement the planting time table for each month in a year. Subsequently, we construct an information management system for the herbage production. Visual Basic user’s interface and Relational Database System are adopted in this system to manage and store the data. Finally, this study tests the feasibility of every function on this system by an illustrative example. The outcome of this testing indicated that the system could provide the necessary data for the owner to support his operational decision making, and could improve the efficiency of its production management.
