However, teachers still confront difficulty during executing environment education
teaching in schools mainly because that campus architecture design are mostly
artificial environments lacking protest species and natural environment for being
observed. Yang, Kuang-Chen thus submitted an idea of teaching in natural
environment. Regretfully, relative environment education institutes are mostly
located remotely, inconvenient for executing teaching activities. This research
thus submits an idea that the “green space” neighboring urban life circles shall be
used for executing environment education activities, and also explores space
modes for activity application, and the relevancies with the aforesaid activities to
be used as the research purpose. The researcher thus tries to establish
environment education activities in the aforesaid location and space application
mode by selecting “Hutoushan Mountain Park, Taoyuan County”, located Taoyuan
city suburbs, as the research subject.
This research is composed of 3 stages. The 1st stage is to explore learning
theories relative to environment education and to use “situation learning”、”outdoor
education and learning hierarchy” as the theory basis and to research the
relationship between teaching activities and space and also to establish a mode
structure graph. The 2nd stage is to use the education promotion institutes
neighboring suburbs as the case-study subject and to select Taichung Metropolitan
Park、Zhishan Cultural and Ecological Garden、Guandu Nature Park for making
observation of their execution processes of environment education activities and
research of the mutual relationship between space application mode and education
activities during the processes and then to establish “outdoor environment
education space mode” and “outdoor environment education operation mode”
pursuant to research results. The 3rd stage is use “Hutoushan Park, Taoyuan
County” as the subject and to design “The teaching activities of Hutoushan
environment education topics” as to provide activity operation mode and space
application method by applying the modes established by the researchers and then
to execute the research designers’ activity contents.
The research results indicate that : All attendants can experience every
expected mutually-reactive modes during the activity fulfillment process done in the
aforesaid space. After the activities are finished, the students have thus been
encouraged to bear environment ideas and correct attitudes. This research can
thus assume that the natural environment is already filled with all space modes for
making observation and application. Outdoor environment education activities
don’t only emphasize diversifying experience-space but also rely on “activity
operation mode” to establish mutually-reactive behavior between the activity
attendants and environments to make the behavior producing learning meaning
with respect to environment education and then to finish the complete modes for
outdoor environment education activities. Pursuant to the aforesaid principle, the
“outdoor environment education space mode” established by this research can
provide outdoor space designers and planners reference basis.
