Therefore, arrangement on patent application and protection is becoming the key valuable topic for Taiwanese industries which fight for growing. In order to reduce the time and the cost for product research and development (R&D), patent design around is one of the most advantageous ways for the purpose. TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) is a systematic theory for product innovative R&D methodology which is always used to help R&D team members pursue solutions for resolving product R&D problems during concept design phase. On the other hand, DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) can effectively assist cost reduction and process improvement. It is also usually used in R&D concept design phase for deciding the final product cost and quality. The purpose of the study is to integrate TRIZ and DFMA methods into a patent design around process. The process starts with a systematic search on possible patents to design around for the design target. By analyzing the patents, using the traditional design around process and DFMA to study the possibility of designing around, applying TRIZ for the investigation of innovative design concepts, DFMA is then used again for design feasibility study. Before closing up the process, the newly developed design needs to be double checked for possible patent infringe. In order to prove out the process, this research takes the lip area design of a milk-bottle available in the marketplace as a case study. Justin, J.Y., Lin 林均燁 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 109 zh-TW
