The researcher used documentary analysis, questionnaires, and interviews to gather the research data. The questionnaires were composed of the background of the elementary school physical education teachers, and the rating scales of attitudes toward teachers’ job stress, coping strategies, and burnout. The research covered 177 elementary schools in Chang-Hua County. There were 331 questionnaires spread out, and 329 returned. The returned rate was 99. 4%. Of them, a total of 324 were valid, with the ratio up to 97.9%. The data were analyzed by SPSS (Windows 12.0), and descriptive statistics, test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe comparative method, and Pearson’s product moment correlation were applied. The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The mean scores of both teachers’ job stress and coping strategies in Chang-Hua County were above 3 on 5-point scale, while the mean score of teachers’ burnout was below 3 2. There were significant differences among the demographic variables of teachers’ job stress. 3. There were significant differences among the demographic variables of teachers’ coping strategies. 4. There was no significant difference among the demographic variables of teachers’ burnout. 5. Overall, teachers’ job stress and coping strategies had a positive correlation. Teachers’ coping strategies and burnout had a negative correlation, and so did the teachers’ job stress and burnout. Based on the results of this study, several suggestions were offered to the educational administrations and schools. It is hoped that this study may benefit all elementary school physical education teachers. Ya-chin Lang 郎亞琴 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 132 zh-TW
