A survey on graduate students in Taiwanese universities was implemented and the participants were selected purposively through acquainted teachers and friends. Questionnaires were distributed by acquainted teachers and friends. The grand total provided 900 questionnaires. Out of 900 questionnaires distributed, 656 valid questionnaires were collected after discarding incomplete or unqualified(e.g single parent) copies, including 312 males and 344 females. The average age of participants was 25 years old. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The openness of parent-adolescent communication is adequate, and the openness with mothers is higher than that with fathers. Higher degree on “Moratorium status”, contributes to “quite confident” on career decision-making self-efficacy. 2. With higher openness on overall or individual parent-adolescent communication, more of the participants favor “Identity-Achievement” and “Foreclosure”. Moreover, the higher level of overall or mother’s parent-adolescent communication leads to less “Moratorium” and also with a higher level of overall or individual parent-adolescent communication the better career decision-making self-efficacy is. Lastly, participants favoring “Identity-Achievement” have higher career decision-making self-efficacy. On the contrary, participants favoring “Foreclosure”, “Identity- diffusion”, “Moratorium”, have lower career decision-making self-efficacy. 3. Ego-identity, as an intervening variable, affects parent-adolescent communication and the career decision-making self-efficacy differently. However, Identity-Achievement does not serve as an intervening variable between male participants and their father. Moreover, Foreclosure serves as an intervening variable among overall parent-adolescent communication, all participants and female participants communication with mothers, and career decision-making self-efficacy. Finally, Moratorium serves as an intervening variable among overall parent-adolescent communication and mother communications and career decision-making self-efficacy. Key word: The graduate student, parent-adolescent communication, ego-identity status, career decision-making self-efficacy. 楊康臨 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 126 zh-TW
