Chapter II and III consist of “Mou Zongsan idea of filial piety” and “Lo Kuang idea of filial piety”, which aim at going through the works of Mou Zongsan and Lo Kuang in great detail to pursue the concepts of “Mou Zongsan idea of filial piety” and “Lo Kuang idea of filial piety”. Subsequently, these issues would be further explored from their origins in the aspects of philosophy and religion. As a result, the conceptual framework for thoughts of filial piety can be achieved. Chapter II and III also reveal concepts such as “innate benevolence” and “divine being”. This is mainly concerned with the human spirit and ethical living. The focus is placed upon “ontology” and “ethics” with the anticipation of being cultural norms infinitely. Chapter IV is entitled “Comparison of filial piety characteristics between those of Mou Zongsan and Lo Kuang”. Based on the fundamentals of filial piety thoughts, further inferences from the interpretations of Mou Zongsan and Lo Kuang in the concepts of filial piety ideology are attempted. The essence of filial piety thoughts can be illustrated as “holiness” and “ethics”, which are rooted in “The Heaven”. One can acquire “beatific union” by “living up to the standard”. The “beatific union” would appear in the form of “holiness”. In other words, one can transform and enhance to the god-like domains via thoroughly immersing in “practice in self-discipline” and ” excelling others in theological life”. Chapter V is entitled “the thoughts of filial piety in modern sense from Mou Zongsan and Lo Kuang”. Their modern filial piety thoughts would manifest the ideal personality in the aspects of “local culture” and ” open mind ”. To further establish new meaning based on the traditional context, one is supposed to adopt “ultimate concern” to illustrate the true meaning of “innate benevolence” and subsequently to abide by the sacred “ultimate goodness”. Therefore, “innate conscience” would certainly transform and upgrade people to the level of “sanctification”. On the other hand, the “filial piety” is utilized to realize ” innate benevolence”. The fulfillment of “filial piety” also relies on advocate of “divine being”. Through the “ultimate concern” of “filial piety“, a strong and benign force can be created to achieve infinite and rich lives. Eventually, each individual should practice ”the theory of sanctification” and “innate benevolence“ to attain the infinite life in the spirit of ”truth-goodness-beautifulness, and holiness”. As a result, the positive social impact effect can be extremely profound. In summary, this study finds that the thoughts of filial piety from Mou Zongsan and Lo Kuang progress in the directions as “Human-God” and “God-Human”, respectively. The development of respective ideas seems different, but one can see the common ground between these two ideas. By practicing “filial piety”, both intend to achieve the “holiness” and to live in the world of “truth-goodness-beautifulness”. Objectively and subjectively, the thoughts of Mo Zongsan and Lo Kuang illustrate that the filial piety can play the pivotal role in one’s life via morality and intellectuality.
