These reactions provide an easy access to a variety of heterocycles, such as chromanes, chromenes, coumarins and tetrahydroxanthenones, many of which are found to possess biological activitive while others are synthetic useful intermediates.
In this thesis, we would like to report synthesis of 11a,12-dihydro-11,13-dioxabenzo[4,5]cyclohepta[1,2-b]naphthalen-5-
ones from salicylaldehydes and 1-benzoxepin-5-ones.
