To reduce the traffic noise, the noise barriers will be the best and easy way to set. Nowadays, the regulation of the setting, the effect detecting and the maintenance, etc., for the noise barriers is still waiting in Taiwan. Most of the engineering consultants only followed the law of noise control to design the noise barriers, but the argument of the setting area and the effect detecting is still existed. The sound plan computer software is the popular tool to assist the consultants to design. This paper applied the AHP method to evaluate why, how and where to set the noise barriers.
