Summary: | 碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 教育研究所碩士班 === 96 === The study attempted to explore the effects of teaching with WebQuests on fifth graders'' learning achievement in Chinese language arts. Specifically speaking, the main purpose of this research was to examine whether teaching with WebQuests can significantly promote fifth graders’ higher learning achievement in Chinese language arts than traditional lectures. The research was conducted under the quasi-experimental method and by “nonequivalent group, posttest-only design”. The participants were 66 students from 2 classes of fifth graders at an elementary school in Taipei. Thirty-three students in one of the classes were assigned to the experimental group and taught with WebQuests. Thirty-three students in the other class were assigned to the control group and taught by traditional lectures. The experiment lasted 6 weeks. The “Chinese Language Arts Achievement Test”, which was created by the researcher, was used as the research instrument and administered to all the subjects after the experiment. The data obtained were statistically analyzed by a two-way ANOVA
Results of the study were shown as follows:
1.Teaching with WebQuests didn’t significantly promote students’higher
achievement in Chinese language arts than traditional lectures.
2.There was significant difference in Chinese language arts achievement
among students with different ability levels in Chinese language arts.
3.There were no significant interactions between the teaching method and t
he ability level.
According to the results of the study, the following suggestions for
teaching were offered:
1.Depending on different themes or units, teachers can use WebQuests to
teach Chinese language arts.
2.Cooperative learning strategy can be used when teaching with WebQuests.
3.When using a WebQuest, teachers can make good use of pre-designed web-
based teaching platforms or WebQuest templates.
4.Create appropriate bookmarks for convenience of planning a WebQuest in
the future.
