The sources of water mainly supplied by Shih-Gang Weir in Da-chia Creek, Li-Yu Reservior, and wells. Normally, Da-chia River supplies 0.9 million CMD water, and Li-yu Reservior and wells make up the deficiency 0.4 million CMD. However, after the Chi-Chi earthquake occurred in 1999, the balance was broken. Since the soil and water conservation of watershed areas have been seriously damaged at Da-chia Creek upstream area, Shih-gang Weir usually deposited huge volume of soil and sand carried by floods when typhoons attacked, and caused the turbidity value raising, As a result out the Feng-yuan water treatment plant which connected with Da-Chia Creek could not operate normally, sometime may need to be closed to prevent the water plant from being damaged. But water be cut off suddenly that means people should use water on shift, and will bring out lots of complains from them who live in the Taichung Metropolitan Area, so it is an ergent problem to solve. This study discusses the stability of water supplying system in greate Taichung Metropolitan area. Due to the imbalance water supply system was caused by the seriously destroyed watershed area at the upper reaches of Da-chia Creek, searching other liable and stable water sources are more practical proposals. By methods of sites-investigating and records-analysing, the followings are emergency improvement proposals: 1. During the period of typhoon flood, if both of the Da-chia and Shi-shuie-ke Creek rains heavy, the Shi-shuie-ke Creek can support the Feng-yuan water treatment plant to supply clean water for the people in Taichung Metropolitan Area. 2. When Da-chia creek watershe rains heavy and Shi-shuie-ke Creek rains less or none, If the turbidity value in Da-Chia Creek raises, So Shi-Shuie-Ke Creek can not support enough water, the Pa-Pao ditch could be considered to supply water to Feng-yuan water treatment plant, or built water pipes to connect rear pool in Ma-An Power Plant to supply water to it, but this must be under the approval of Taiwan-Power Company. 3. when the condition is worst, We can buil a pool to deposit sediment at the first time to reduce the turbidity value, but that is more feasible if there are not any land-gotten problems on it at all.
