It is an important public health issue. Purpose: This study aims to compare externalizing and internalizing behavior problems between children born to foreign mothers and those born to native mothers at age of 6 to 8. And discuss whether maternal depression, parental bonding, and aggrement of parenting between father and mother will associate with child behavioral problem. Materials and method: Samples whose mother is Vietnamese, Chinese, or Taiwanese (native mother) were chosen from live birth between April 30, 1991 to May 1st, 2000 was used Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and Teacher Report Form (TRF) to measure child behavior, and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) are used for maternal depression, and parental bonding was compared by parenting instrument. Results: Native mothers’ children scored higher in CBCL, but foreign mothers’ children scored higher in TRF. However, foreign mothers’ children got higher rate in Internalization behavior (in Vietnam group: OR=2.86, 95% CI=1.03-7.89; in China group: OR=5.29, 95% CI=1.20-23.36). Foreign mothers and her husbands mostly used “neglect” parenting skill, whereas their native counterparts mostly used “enlightened” skill. Father’s low commended (OR=2.35, 95% CI=1.08-5.11) and mother’s low demands (OR=3.09, 95% CI= 1.15-8.28) were significant correlates with child behaviors. Conclusions: Parental bonding is a significant correlate with child behavior. We recommend that parental bonding shill be and enhanced. Shin-tai Wang 王新台 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 132 zh-TW
