IEEE 802.16 working group develops the WMAN (Wireless Metropolitan Area Network) to achieve BWA technology. The IEEE 802.16 has high speeds wireless network also can support the multimedia services and QoS for multi-level service type. In the IEEE 802.16 standard provides QoS (Quality of Service) with four service types, UGS、rtPS、nrtPS and BE. We propose a cross-layer mechanism to integrate the IP layer and IEEE 802.16 to provide the cooperating QoS operation. In our proposed scheme, we integrate IP layer and IEEE 802.16 QoS. In addition, we propose a QoS mechanism for mobile users that can make the flow matains keep original QoS when the mobile user moves from one SS to another SS.
