Because of its low overhead, simple syntax, rich flexibility, and high extensibility, it is widely adopted in building real-time communication services. Instant message (IM) is one example among rich SIP applications. Instant message is a convenient communication way for people to keep in touch with friends and colleagues. However, using SIP to transmit instant messages is somehow inefficient, based on its request/response model. It is possible to improve SIP to provide the instant message service in a more efficient way by utilizing a recently proposed protocol MSRP (Message Session Relay Protocol). Moreover, Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal is also a problem which SIP and MSRP must solve. Quincy Wu 吳坤熹 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 73 zh-TW
