Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 天文研究所 === 96 === We present the results of star counting of the 2MASS point sources to search for uncharted open clusters. As the first attempt, we identified regions with stellar density enhancements not associated with previously known star clusters along the Galactic disk, within the band l = 90 degree to 270 degree, and b = -3.5 degree to +3.5 degree. Analysis of the 2MASS J-H versus H-Ks and J versus J-H diagrams, together with visual inspection of the DSS and 2MASS images, led to a final list of a few tens of regions as star cluster candidates, for each of which the central coordinates, angular size, projected stellar density profile, and total number of possible cluster members were derived. Details of a dozen such star cluster candidates are presented here. In particular two clusters, OC0234+6147 and OC0456+4722, are young and associated with nebulosity. We presented the two cluster observed by Lulin One-meter Telescope, OC0536+3112 and OC0604+2201, to photometrically derive their distances to be ~1.82 kpc and ~3.27 kpc, respectively.
