Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 哲學研究所 === 96 === A Study of Wang-ji’s Synthesis of the Three Teachings Huang Bo-kai ---Abstract--- This thesis aims to show how Wang-ji (1498-1583) develops his synthesis of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism in terms of the concept of liang-chi. As a Confucian, Wang first of all criticizes Buddhism for ignoring the ethical life of this world. He then blames Taoist religion for its one-sided concentration on the praxis of life preservation. It is mainly because Buddhism falsely identifies the world as illusionary, while Taoist religion only focuses on the stillness of nature. Inovercoming these limitations, Wang-ji returns to the Confucian thesis of the primacy of morality. Asa result, he introduces the nine-stage theory of liang-chi.
