Description
Summary:博士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 工業教育與技術學系 === 96 === ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to apply structural equation model (SEM) to verify Senior/Vocational High School Principals’ leadership characteristics, leadership behavior and leadership effectiveness. The document analysis and questionnaire survey were employed for this study. The research subjects were senior/vocational high school principals, whole school directors were subjects for the questionnaire survey. The data were analyzed by a number of statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, stepwise multiple regression and canonical correlation analysis. The model fitting of research structure was verified by SEM, to realize the relationship between principals’ leadership attributes, leadership behavior and leadership effectiveness. The results were as follows: 1. School directors generally identified principals’ leadership effectiveness, and perceived the positive in “leadership attributes”, “transformational leadership behavior, “transactional leadership behaviors”. 2. “The high characteristic attributes and the high organization management attributes” was the main dimension in the leadership attributes of senior/vocational principals; “the high transformational and the high transactional” was the main dimension in the leadership behavior and also can show principals’ leadership effectiveness the most. 3. School directors had obvious perception of their principals’ leadership behavior in which there were significant differences of background variables, including, “the type of school”, “schools’ organization management type”, “schools’ location”, “principals’ seniority”, “principals’ degree of education” and “students’ population”. 4. School directors had obvious perception of their principals’ leadership attributes in which there were significant differences of background variables, including, “schools’ organization management type”, “principals’ age”, “principals’ seniority”, “principals’ degree of education” and “students’ population”. 5. School directors had obvious perception of their principals’ leadership effectiveness in which there were significant differences of background variables, including, “the type of school”, “schools’ organization management type”, “schools’ location”, “principals’ seniority”, “principals’ degree of education” and “students’ population”. 6. It could be found that senior/vocational high school principals’ leadership attributes can effectively predict their leadership behavior in every dimension. 7. It could be found that senior/vocational high school principals’ leadership attributes can effectively predict their leadership effectiveness in every dimension. 8. It could be found that senior/vocational high school principals’ leadership behavior can effectively predict their leadership effectiveness in every dimension. 9. The relationship of SEM between principals’ leadership attributes, leadership behavior and leadership effectiveness demonstrated positive structural relationship. 10. The leadership effectiveness model of leadership attributes, leadership behavior and leadership effectiveness had been verified. According to the above research results, helping how the principals achieve higher leadership effectiveness, promoting effectively the principals’ leadership effectiveness and as a reference in qualitative or empirical research of senior/vocational high schools principals’ leadership attributes, leadership behavior and leadership effectiveness. Keywords: senior/vocational high school principals, transformational leadership, transactional leadership, leadership attributes, leadership effectiveness, structural equation model (SEM).
