In the industrial field, the AutoCAD is the most popular software for design and engineering drawing. In this paper, the Microsoft Access is used to upgrade the efficiency of the datum management of AutoCAD drawing. The program composed by Delphi computer language is used to design the interface and connect the Microsoft Access and AutoCAD drawing. This study discusses the necessity of the drawing management system on the design process and reduces the manpower mistake.
Nowadays, in the department of design, the firsthand BOM lists are still generated and checked by manpower. The traditional approach is easy to make mistakes, especially in alteration of design project. This study presents a new proposal to modify the traditional process described above. The blocks with attributes are defined in AutoCAD firstly and the attributes should be discussed and designated by the designer, manager, and salesman. Then the designer can use these blocks to generate the drawing in design and alteration process. The database software used to manage and record the quantity and information of blocks. The computer program used to provide the interface and connect the drawing datum and database. Finally, the BOM list can be generated by AutoCAD command and apply to the follow-up process. This approach presented in this paper not only reserves the information in design process but reduce the mistake by human. The design process from the traditional approach become interface connect database, except the datum accurately and save the work time and cost down more 75%.
