Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 視覺藝術研究所 === 96 === Abstract An Action Research on Community-Based Art Instruction:Focusing on Teaching Artistic Production to Middle Graders This action research attempts to develop a community-based curriculum in artistic production, which includes community resources as teaching content, and suits the needs of fourth graders as the community members. The methods of data collection includes observation, teacher’s diary, interview, and student’s works. The objectives of this research are fourfold:(a)to analyze the related theories of community-based teaching in artistic production,(b)to develop a community-based curriculum in artistic production,(c)to analyze the implementation of curriculum, effects of student’s learning, and teacher’s reflection on teaching, and(d)to propose recommendations concerning future teaching and research, based on the above findings. The effects of student’s learning include:(a)the improvement of student’s understanding of art and culture in the community,(b)the enhancement of cognition of the value of art in the community,(c)better integration of community knowledge with formation of community-culture conceptions,(d)the improvement of student’s culture indentity,(e)the increasing possitive attitude(keeping and caring)toward community culture,(f)the expansion of mediums and forms in expression, and(g)better application of cultural knowledge and art skills to life and becoming artist of life. The reflections of the teacher involve:(a)the narrative content or stories in community art and culture are more acceptable and preferred by the students, (b)representative and typical historical architectures or festivities are preferred by the students,(c)the community art and culture closer to student’s life experiences are more motivating,(d)the balance of conciseness and depth of curricular content is important,(e)student’s knowledge of aesthetics and art needs to be improved,(f)teaching has to be well prepared in advance,(g)more time is needed for student’s presentation,(h)the teaching process needs to be smooth and complete,(i)methods of production and skills for mediums need to be taught appropriately,(j)grouping is effective in teaching,(k)multiple and appropriate evaluation is necessary, and(l)the time for each unit needs to be arranged properly. The recommendations includes three aspects:(a)design of curriculum and instruction,(b)implementation and resources of instruction, and(c)future research.
