Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 視覺藝術研究所 === 96 === Research has indicated that the rooms of children and youngsters can be a good place to perceive their aesthetic values. They conveniently form a means for researchers to examine the symbolic significances therein, and of course the children’s identification of the roles they play. An interior design project, hence, has been launched as a commencement to better understand the mentalities of young children, and further to help adjust art relevant curriculums. This research employs the bunch of students from Class F of a certain Chiayi municipal elementary school as its objects, with data collected during Arts and Humanity classes and close observation and interviews done afterwards. Their works have also been analyzed by the Content Analysis method to conclude whether the visual qualities as well as the ideologies demonstrated therein have anything to do with the students’ genders. There are, indeed, three subject matters this research aims to discuss: A) the contents, forms and materials exploited in the works of students of different genders; B) the styles of the works of students of different genders; C) the psychological, social, aesthetic levels that are shown. The results are as follows: A) The contents, forms and materials students of different genders have exploited present multiple diversities. The basic equipments/furniture and decorations and their significances, so far as “contents” are concerned, differ greatly from student to student. Formally, the works tend to take on an objectively realistic quality; while paper is massively utilized when it comes to material. Also, exchange of different material among students are to be found. Sometimes, the contents of a certain design work are altered due to adoptions of differents materials. Female students tend to include more objects, ways of expression, and materials than male students do, and thus their works prove to be more decorative. B) The styles can be categorized as naturalistic, “anime”-esque, cute, romantic and simplistic, while some works include more than one such qualities. Female students are more focused on wholeness. Their works are often imbedded with their identifications with such qualities as warmth, amicability, dreaminess and effeminacy, while male students’ special powers, adventures, and pursuits of fun and machinery. C) Psychologically, the conceptions included in the students’ works demonstrate a variety of their primary needs, some of which being the needs for company and a sense of security, for privacy and personal territory, and for relaxation. Socially, they showcase their yearnings for confirmation of the roles they are in, parental love, friendship, romance, and interaction with invironment . Aesthetically, the works can be perceived as the students’ personal preferences for variety, simplicity, exquisiteness and vividness, originality, cute stuff and even the color of pink. The findings and conclusion thus reached are to be offered as suggestions for the design of Arts and Humanity relevant courses and related studies.
