Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 教育行政與政策發展研究所 === 96 === The main purposes of this study were to investigate whether the principals' role expectation, role performance and school efficiency perceived by teachers and parents were significantly different, to identify the ideal principals in Changhua County, and to provide advices in accordance for school improvements. Quantitative survey was adopted in this research. Questionnaires were administered to 262 school teachers and parents, with which 258 responded, resulting in a 96% responding rate. The results were as follows: 1. Principal's role expectation and role performance perceived by teachers were significantly different. 2. Principal's role expectation and role performance perceived by parents were significantly different. 3. Principal's role expectation and role performance perceived by parents as well as teachers were significantly different. 4. School efficiency was negatively related with principal's role expectation and role performance. Moreover, the role of arousal could be used to predict school efficiency.
