Based on the Hope Theory by C. R. Snyder (2002), this study purposes to investigate the phenomenon of Internet addiction of the freshmen at National Dong Hwa University (NDHU) and to reduce their addition to the Internet. It is discovered that over sixty percent of the freshmen at NDHU have a tendency of overusing the Internet and their average score at Hope is lower than that in C. R. Snyder (2002). On Purposes to reduce the level of Internet addition of the freshmen, the study conducted a six-week group activity to promote five freshmen’s ability on “pathways” and “agency” in Hope Theory to adopt Case method(Case discussion). The results of the study show that the Internet addition of most participants can be reduced.
