Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 人力資源發展研究所 === 96 === The purpose of this study is to explore the parents’ satisfaction level of the swimming teaching programs of elementary schools in Hsinchu City, follow by the discussion of how parents with different backgrounds would make an impact on the swimming teaching programs; and further, to evaluate the effectiveness of the swimming teaching programs. This study adopted the method of documentary analysis as the theoretical base of the investigation to conduct data collection and analysis by questionnaire survey and interviews. The questionnaire survey took the form of “the parents’ satisfaction level of the swimming teaching programs of elementary schools in Hsinchu City” as the investigation tool; and the survey target were selected from the parents of 6500 students among thirty-one participating public and private elementary schools in Hsinchu City area by random sampling. 1500 copies of the questionnaire were randomly sent out to each school as the basic unit, 1245 valid copies were returned. The effective return rate was 83% with 1049 effective copies. Finally, base on the above investigation, statistical analysis and the compiled interview contents to conduct further detailed discussion. The conclusions are as follows: I. The swimming teaching programs were approved and supported by parents The abovementioned programs are generally supported and approved by the parents, as most of the parents believe that swimming is not only a very good sport, but also an essential survival skill. Thus, the parents’ overall satisfaction levels are inclined to be “satisfactory.” However, parents also believe that there are rooms for improvement for the teaching institutes, especially in the area of “insufficient information of teaching goal and teaching progress”, “to strengthen the communication between the parents and the schools”, “did not consider the students’ rights and interests in advance”, “to improve teaching quality and the attitude of the coach”, “to review on the safety of transportation and the traffic distance”, “inadequate wash facility of the swimming pool”, “poor water quality, and improper water temperature” and “ unsatisfactory environmental hygiene of the teaching site”. II. The variance of satisfaction level at the swimming teaching programs with parents of different backgrounds showed no significant influence. Parents with different gender, age, occupation, academic background and income do not differ in the satisfaction level significantly; it is mainly because this program is good for the students’ growth in both knowledge and skills. However, for those parents’ occupation category identified as housekeeping tend to emphasize on giving more encouragements to the students, coaching according to individual differences and giving considerations for students’ learning rights and interests in advance. Parents with higher academic backgrounds tend to pay more attention on the teaching facilities, the quality of the water, and environmental hygiene as they are better off in the economic condition and have more swimming experiences. III. The implementation of the swimming teaching programs reveals excellent results. The implementation of the abovementioned program does not only enhance the diversified learning for the students, it also enables the participated students to acquire swimming capability and survival skills under water. More than 70% of the students are able to finish the 15-meter lap. The Education Bureau of Hsinchu City was awarded “excellent” in the physical education assessment by the Education Ministry in 2007 for its outstanding achievement in the swimming teaching programs.
