Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 人資處輔導教學碩士班 === 96 === This thesis aimed at investigating the effect of “positive psychology group therapy” on the fifth and sixth graders who suffer from depression. The target students were divided, according to individual preferences, into a control group and an experimental group. Students in the experimental group received 10 50-minute units of positive psychology group therapy; the control group was provided with similar courses after the follow-up evaluation. The independent variable in the study was the treatment of the positive psychology group therapy course; the dependent variable was the grade variation of the two groups in “experience chart for children” and “optimism chart for children.” The data was processed statistically by means of one-factor analysis of variance (one-factor ANOVA), and the statistical results were supplemented by students’ unit feedback forms, general feedback forms, and unit records. The conclusions of the research follow: 1. Positive psychology group therapy did not have significant and immediate effect of reducing depression and enhancing optimism on fifth and sixth graders who suffer from depression. 2. Follow-up evaluation conducted five weeks after the final unit did not show significant follow-up effect of positive psychology group therapy. 3. According to individual feedbacks and interviews, participants hold positive attitude toward the therapy group. Its unit design was applicable to fifth and sixth graders who suffer from depression. Most students in the experimental group can understand the skills they acquire from the treatment, encourage themselves with more positive language; they are more confident of themselves and optimistic about the future. Finally, for further consideration in practice and future research, some suggestions are provided according to the results of the research.
