Summary:碩士 === 國立花蓮教育大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 96 === This research conducted a special foreign spouse literacy class with an elementary school in YiLan County, and the total is 9 trainees as the research targets. The primary goal of this research is to investigate the research of etymological categorization combined with computer-assisted teaching to the literacy capability of the foreign spouse. The purpose is to understand the effect of this literacy outcome and learning interests of the foreign spouse if this educational experiment is accepted. The vocabulary teaching material of this research is divided into four categories namely pictographic characters, self-explanatory characters, associative compounds and word-family characters. These four different kinds of character are used to investigate the outcome of the etymological categorization combined with computer-assisted teaching by the ability to understand and writing of the new vocabulary and the ability to write Chinese characters with correct strokes. The description is qualitative and this educational experiment last five weeks in total. According to the actual process and the outcome of the teaching, the suggestions are as follows: 1. As for this teaching: a. This kind of teaching should be promoted to every school in the nation as the reference for the literacy teaching material of the foreign spouse. b. It might be as well expanded into the vocabulary lessons of the elementary school and the junior high of the nation. c. It can be used to compile a dictionary with phonetic notations and a reference book. 2. Suggestion for the future to come: a. The administrative aspect:  The budget should be made slack in order to provide a year-long education expense and ratification should be done without delay; it should be subsumed into the budget of the nursery nurse to solve the plight of “the son never leaves the mother” situation.  The special literacy class of the foreign class should be conducted more extensively. All the foreign spouse should be forced to joined such class so that the education quality of the next generation is ensured. b. The teaching aspect:  Teachers should be equipped with the understanding of the ancient characters and the ancient civilization history.  The methodology of the character origin can be used to improve the situation where the form of the character is often mixed up.  Teaching material software of the etymological categorization combined with computer-assisted teaching can be designed with explanatory graphics and visualization. The learning should reply on the method which explains the meaning of the word through analyzing their character forms and adopts the method with which the pronunciation of words is taught and their meanings are explained. This is done to avoid the rigid learning of the forms, pronunciation and meaning of the abstract characters. c. The future research aspect:  The material aspect: Child poetry, nursery rhymes or any short paragraph combining character origins that can be read out loud without any difficulty should be selected as the teaching material and further the research more to investigate the difference in the outcome of the research.  The aspect of the intended targets: Mainly the targets are set to foreign spouse as research of this kind is lacking. However, the number of foreign spouse is increasing dramatically year after year, therefore it is worthy to continue future research.  The method of research: If the number of the trainee can be increased to a number large enough to be divided, then the experimental group and comparison group should be formed. The learning process of these two groups should be contrasted, and furthermore to investigate the outcome of such learning. This research is only involved with the immediate effect of the experiment, the retaining and immigration effect have not been included. Therefore, the follow-up research can aim at this particular area for the long-term observation.
