Summary:碩士 === 南華大學 === 歐洲研究所 === 96 ===   Spain is hegemony during 16th century. However, after losing several wars, the name of “The Sun Never Set on the Spanish Empire” is on the wane. In 1898, Spain lost the Spanish-American War, she closed the way to the international intercourse. With depression of economy and instability of politics, the status of Spain in the international politics stay lower, and became the lowest during 1930s because of the civil war. The country is not only destroyed by the war, but isolated within the world.(There were only several Latin-America Countries which admit Spain and created diplomat relationship with her.)Because of the weakness and disturbance of Spain, General Franco won the civil war and became the leader of Spain. Authoritarian regime during the period made Spain’s politics stay at a relative stable status with its restrictive and coercive method.     In the past, Spain is a country of depression, isolation and poverty. Today, Spain has changed from top to bottom. According to the statistical record of OECD, the GDP per capita of Spain reached USD 27,400 in 2005. According to the data of World Bank, the scale of Spain’s GDP is the top 9 of the world. Spain now plays an active role in the European Union (EU) and world. After the death of Franco, democratization and its accession to the European Community (EC), Spain becomes a rich and developed country. The lesson of Spain’s development can help some countries which develop stagnant try to find the direction of their own.      The main point of this essay is on the discussion of the transition of Spain’s politics and economics after its accession to the EC. It can be divided into seven chapters. The first chapter is foreword. I introduce the motive and purpose of this essay, methodology, limitation and framework of this essay. The second chapter is the discussion of theories. I introduce the theories of democracy, economy integration and politic economy. I also discuss the motive of Europeanization of Spain. The third chapter is the introduction of the development of Spain’s politic and economics before its accession to the EC. I introduce the Spain’s politics and economy during the Franco regime and the beginning of democratization include UCD government and the first POSE government. The fourth chapter is the introduction of the process of Spain’s accession to the EC. The fifth chapter is the discussion of Spain’s development of politics and economics after its accession to the EC. The sixth chapter is the discussion of the future of Spain’s politics and economy. The last chapter is conclusion.
