Driven by the market demand, not only high bandwidth while transmitting multimedia data is required, but also QoS (Quality of Service) should possess to the multimedia. This function should be supported in network technology. Under the tide of multimedia, the WLAN technology has already support QoS function at a high speed and satisfy multimedia demand. In this thesis, a Group-Polling Scheme (GPS) is proposed. It combines contention free polling and Transmission Opportunity (TXOP) assignment, augmented with modification of polling frame format and polling list management. It also has some improvement in terms of low power management. The proposed scheme outperforms some other schemes recently proposed in the literature which generally improve WLAN capacity at the cost of increased waiting time delays.
