Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄海洋科技大學 === 漁業生產與管理研究所 === 96 === In order to understand the fishing proficiency of circle hook for tuna longline fishery, a total of 5 sampling boats were chosen to carry out the experiments from July 2007 to December 2007. The experiments were conducted by using circle hooks of 4.2 inch and J-Style hooks of 4.2 inch as comparison criteria. Based on the results, there are no significant correlation and difference between the 2 types of hook in CPUE, retaining survival rate of fish upon capture and the size of catch bigeye tuna. In additions, there were 21 sea turtles captured during the experiments. However, the number of sea turtles captured is rather too few to proceed further investigation and research. Finally, the results of the experiment coincide with the other publications of many international institutes. Therefore, this study suggested that using the circle hook for tuna longline fishery will not lead to reduce the efficiency when compared to the traditional J–style hook. This result can help to erase the uncertainty and anxiety towards this application.
