Two females, Shunxin and Ruyi with ages of 33 and 36, were recruited in this study. Shunxin and Ruyi were diagnosed as having MS at ages of 28 and 32 separately. The narrative approach was adopted to collect the data by in depth interviews, and the holistic-content perspective was used to analyze the data. The major findings were as follows: Shunxin had devoted herself to nurse practice since graduated and won the appreciation from her superior. She was recognized as the potential candidate of the superintendent in her work setting. However, due to the sudden disease, she lost chance for promotion. Her duties on job were deeply influenced and finally she had to quit the job she fondly enjoyed because of the deterioration of vision. Ruyi worked in the day time and studied at night when she was a junior college student. After graduated from college she worked as a full–time accountant and did a part-time job at night. She almost devoted all of her time to work until sickening with MS. The work load of accountant was too heavy to continue, so she resigned her commission and started to work in an after-school child care program. Shunxin’ s employment adjustment process after graduated, including seven years’ working with MS, were categorized into four core themes. They were “developing interest on nurse practice during internship ”, ” shifting from the youngest care worker to the potential candidate of the superintendent ”, ” adjusting original duty due to MS”, and “always pleased to work but had to give up ”. Four core themes were identified on Ruyi’ s employment adjustment process over a long span of ten years including five years to coexist with MS. The core themes were “part work and part study during college years ”, ” work is life and life is work ” , ” heavy workload as a accountant”, and “changing her work track”. Following these themes, the changes on work role and work personality of Shunxin and Ruyi were explored. , Shunxin’s work role was faded out of her life after got MS. The chain of changes of her work role shifted from expecting the promotion in the beginning of her nurse practice to keeping the basic duty while struggling with illness, and end with giving up the work she love. Ruyi’ s worker role was gradually lessened after got MS. The chain of changes of the work role included hard-working in the begining of her vocational life and realizing the importance of health for her life finally. Therfore, the researcher applied symphony as a metaphor to express changeful work status of people with MS. It was a triad including grandioso symphony, wandering variation and quiet idyll. Movement to represent the situations of before and after getting MS of Shunxin and Ruyi. According to the results, several suggestions were proposed, for rehabilitation practice and further research.
