碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 視覺傳達設計研究所 === 96 === In the rapidly changing era, diverse knowledge, information and visual stimuli are sharply distinct from those in the past. Modern artistic creation has to combine with new visual elements and move beyond tradition in order to develop an innovative style. The main idea of this thesis, Xuan-xuan’s growing diary is explored by combining both the idea of collage and surrealistic illustrations with visual experiences in personal life. These series of works are originated with my parental experiences, and based on my son’s growing documentation. The exploration of the literatures of toddler development, the idea collage of techniques, and illustrations are followed by the study of contents, techniques and forms of the themes of creativity.There are two series of works have been created by collecting relevant works and organizing images. The works evolve from my wife’s pregnancy to the birth and growth of my son, which are developed in the form as image of diary. My ideas are transformed into the creation by employing collage and surrealistic techniques to present the changes of parental role and the conflicts that are between expectation and reality during the growth of my son.
