碩士 === 南開科技大學 === 福祉科技與服務管理所 === 96 === ABSTRACT The aging population of most developed countries is growing increasingly and the average life expectancy is also rising due to the benefit of medical technology. However, the birth rate has been decreasing sharply over the past decade, the whole world has to deal with the aging problems in the coming future. Live smartly and independently is the best choice for the older people. Computers can play an increasing important role in helping the older adults function well in society. So far, many senior people have used computer to browse the website to get useful information to improve the quality of life. Basically, the current interface design of web is easy to use for the younger people who have the general knowledge of computer and also have received the training. However, the dramatic changes of the physical and psychological aspects of aging have made most of the elderly difficult to learn, remember and operate the complex process of web. Based on the reason, the paper reviews the related literatures to summarize some guidelines for the web interface design to meet the elderly needs. In addition, this research comes up with the design guidelines to develop website for the elderly and also evaluate the usability. According to the evaluation results, the elderly shows the positive response for the website design. Finally, the elderly website management strategy is also discussed.
