Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 教育心理與輔導學系 === 96 === The present study explored the effect of mortality salience on the desire for offspring. About 300 adult participants were randomly assigned to answer a questionnaire that included the manipulation of either mortality salience or dental-pain salience. It was found that as compared with control condition, mortality salience induced more desire for offspring. However, the effect of mortality salience on a desire for offspring was found to be more evident only for women with stronger traditional family value. The findings suggest that a desire for offspring can function as a terror management defense mechanism.
