Furthermore, I research the attitudes towards the policy and the different conditions of strategies taken when teacher-pupil conflicts happen under the variety of different backgrounds. The research utilizes questionnaire and proceeds by school sampling. The samples are 504 in number, the effective questionnaire are 364, and the research subjects are teachers of public of elementary schools in Tainan County. Besides, the survey instruments are “the scale of the attitudes toward the zero corporal punishment” and “the scale of the handling strategies for the elementary school teachers in teacher-pupil conflicts”. The data available after the surveys is analyzed by the statistical methods such as descriptive statistics, t-test, One-Way ANOVA, posteriori comparisons, and chi-square test. The major results of this study are as follows: Ⅰ. The development of the corporal punishment education policy evaluates from the level of orders to the law. Ⅱ. The proportion of the teachers who agreed with the zero corporal punishment education policy is close to the others who were against it. Ⅲ. The strategy used frequently to deal with teacher-pupil conflicts by the elementary school teachers is “integrating”. Ⅳ. The attitudes toward the zero corporal punishment were different depended on the seniority and job positions. Ⅴ. Despite the variables of the teacher’s background, there was still no change in handling teacher-pupil conflict. Ⅵ. The attitudes toward the zero corporal punishment influence the elementary school teachers’ conflict coping strategies. According to the research result, several suggestions are provided below: Ⅰ. To execute the impartation of the senior teachers’ experiences. Ⅱ. To strengthen the function of the administrative units, that will lead to the cooperation of solving teacher-pupil conflicts. Ⅲ. The administrative department should investigate the reasons why the teachers oppose the zero corporal punishment education policy. Ⅳ. In order to carry out the zero corporal punishment education policy, teachers should build up correct values of education. Hsu-wei Shu 舒緒緯 學位論文 ; thesis 127 zh-TW
