For users, the interface is what they contact most directly. The interaction between users and the interface is often considered the drive for interface design. In other words, the interface can be viewed as the gateway for accessing information. Consequently, the usability of digital media as well as the users’ recognition depends on the interface design. It is believed that ubiquitous learning (U-learning) can take the advantages of the instantaneity and portability of PDA, GPS, and wireless telecommunications to improve the learning environment as well as to increase the using rates of digital learning materials. Therefore, this study proposes to transform the concept of combining the principle of U-learning and usability with PDA, via situation imitation, into a prototype of story board PDA learning interface. To overcome the rather small interface, which results in poor usability, the prototype developed in this study has consulted the actual learning needs of users and referred to related literature. The users who participated in the test-use of the prototype indicate that the prototype indeed can enhance their context aware learning. Therefore, this study supports the idea that developing story board via situation imitation can be applied to the PDA user interface which emphasizes the authentic learning situations. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1.The objective of this study’s prototype interface can be developed by systematically analyzing the usability as well as the users’ using experiences. 2.The keys for designing a U-learning PDA with high usability is to consider the interface’s concordance, attraction, and easy-to-use functions. 3.The prototype interface developed by using different strategies and tools can enhance learning. 4.The situated learning story board can be applied to devising PDA prototype. 5.The participants of this study all agree with the results that the users are highly satisfied with the prototype.
