Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台北護理學院 === 護理研究所 === 96 === This study adopted a secondary analysis method to explore the professional confidence, practice competency and related factors for new nurses who had worked in the acute psychiatric wards for less than one year. The training needs of new nurses in the acute psychiatric wards were also examined. The convenience sample included nurses who had worked for one year or less at hospitals Department of Health. Quantitative and Qualitative data were obtained from structural questionnaires. 105 questionnaires were collected (65 from new nurses and 40 from ward supervisors). The two measurement tools in the study were the Nursing Practicing Situation Handling Confidence Scale (NPSHC Scale) and the Nursing Practicing Competencies Mastery Scale (NPCM Scale). Two scales of eight sub-scales for Cronbach's α between .941~.983 and.953~.986 revealed high internal consistency. The data analysis revealed the following five conclusions: (1)The averages (±std. deviation) of eight categories of nursing practicing situation handling confidence (0~10) were 5.50(±1.43), 5.66(±1.46), 5.95(±1.67), 5.95(±1.74), 5.77(±1.69), 5.56(±1.61), 5.47(±1.72) And 6.36(±1.67);the averages(std. deviation) of eight categories of nursing practicing competency mastery(1~4)were 2.59(± 0.53),2.54(±0.53),2.69(±0.58),2.53(±0.53),2.69(±0.54),2.69(± 0.57),2.37(±0.61)and 2.57(±0.57). (2)The professional confidence and practice competency of three groups of nurses who had worked for less than one year (3 months<3-6 months<6-12 months), the group who had worked for 6~12 months had better performance than the other two groups. (3)Individual factors:The practical training days were explained 23.2% of the deviation in confidence of nurses in handling nursing practicing situations. Working months were explained 22.0% of the deviation in the fourth categories of nursing practicing situation handling confidence. The practical training days were explained 20.2% of the deviation in the fifth categories of nursing practicing situation handling confidence. The items of organizational factors were non-significant. (4)In confidence of nurses in handling the eight categories nursing practicing situations, needs level of new nurses increased with the number of working months. Nursing practicing situation handling confidence of the eight categories, self-assessment values of new nurses who had worked for less than 3 months were higher than the expected. (5)Training needs gap (1 highest to 5 lowest) between new nurses who had worked for 0~3 months are below 0, 3~6 months are below 0.5, 6~12 months are below 0.5~2.0, 0 items for new nurses who had worked for 0~3 months, 69 items (48.25%) for new nurses who had worked for 3~6 months and 143 items (100%) for new nurses who had worked for 6~12 months. Results of this study provide a valuable reference for incorporation in future nursing school curricula for employment training and clinical places when designing orientation training and continuing education courses for new nurses who had worked in the acute psychiatric wards.
