The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of pediatric massage on asthmatic symptoms, pulmonary function, allergic rhinitis and quality of life in elementary school children with asthma. A quasi-experimental design was applied. Subjects who have mild to moderate asthma recruited from elementary schools. The experimental group (n=35) received massage intervention for 5 weeks, whereas the control group (n=39) received no intervention in the same time. The pediatric asthma symptoms scale, pulmonary function test, allergic rhinitis questionnaire, and CAQ-Form B questionnaire were measured. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using the software SPSS 15.0 windows version. The results showed no statistical difference between two groups in asthma symptoms, pulmonary functions, allergic rhinitis, and quality of life. Future research may provide intervention in the different season or in the acute stage of asthma.
