Furthermore, we’ll find physical self-concept how to influence sports participation motivation. Method: The subjects of this study were the fifth and sixth graders of elementary schools in Kaohsiung County . This study adopted stratified random sampling method to obtain research samples. 855 questionnaires were given to the subjects and afterwards collected with no loss. The final total valid respondents were 848(99.2%). These collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Result: The boys are more significant than girls(p<.05) in physical self-concept except “softness” and “figure” (p>.05). The 5th grade students are significantly higher than the 6th grade students(p<.05) at “endurance” and “appearance”. Besides, students in Cishan Township are more significant than ones in Gangshan Township and Fongshan City(p<.05) excluding “figure” and “strength” (p>.05). Boy’s motivation of sports participation are more than girl’s(p<.05), but “suggestion and encouragement” is excluded(p>.05). Nevertheless, “suggestion and encouragement” in the 5th grade is higher than the 6th grade(p<.05). “Amusement” occurred in Cishan Township students is also higher than Gangshan Township(p<.05). The high physical self-concept students are better than the low physical self-concept students(p<.05) on sports participation motivation.Conclusion: On the whole, boys are higher than girls on physical self-concept and sports participation motivation. The more physical self-concept students have, the more sports participation motivation they have.
