Taking a qualitative approach multi-method design was set up including in-depth interviews, participation observation and document analysis to study a sample of four adults who has taken part in a Korean language program in National Taiwan Normal University. Four adult’s learning experience which related to classroom teaching and lesson planning are depicted in order to explain how to raise the learners’ cross-cultural awareness, understanding and interpretation. The major findings of this study are classified into two categories as following: 1. Language learning aspect (1) Four adults have been learning many kinds of foreign language before take part in the program. (2) Due to a poor language market, the adult learners seldom use Korean to communicate in the ordinary life that has an influence on motivation of learning. (3)The language learning is influenced by the life development of adult. (4)A variety of learning motivation including instruction and self actualization are found in this study. (5)The learners take a perspective of learning Korean as a kind of communication and culture. 2. Culture comprehension aspect (1) Language learning is crucial to understanding and appreciating Korean culture. (2)There is a significant difference between male and female’s interpretative framework about Korean culture. (3) The Adult learners who have been living abroad are more likely to have a comprehensive understanding about Korean culture. (4)Four adult learners propose that the inter-cultural understanding between Taiwan and Korea shall be strength.
