Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 96 === Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937) was a French organist and composer. His music style was mainly influenced by the 19th century Romanticism. He emphasized on the melodic line, and used chromatic scales to create indefinite key centers thus, his music presented the subjective expression and romantic style. The “Suite” for flute and piano Opus 34 was composed in 1898. It was dedicated to the flute professor of Paris Conservatoire, Paul Taffanel (1844-1908).The suite is not only able to demonstrate the beautiful sound of flute, but also the brilliant technique of the flute player. Movements are skillfully connected by theme motives. With these characteristics, the “Suite” became one of the most popular flute music in the 19th century. There are four chapters in this researching paper. The first chapter is the statement of the researching motive and goal. The second chapter is the biography of the composer. The third chapter is the discussion of the composing background of this work, as well as the music analysis and performance suggestion. The fourth chapter is the classification of the composition technique of this work and the final conclusion.
