Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 96 === Shostakovich composed His “Cello Sonata in d Minor, Op. 40” in 1934.The musical structure is subject to traditional form with unconventional tonality. This sonata has contrastive relationship with tempo and style. The first and the third movement have the character of singing melodies. The second and the fourth movement have styles of Russian folk songs. Four chapters are contained in this study. This first chapter explains the purpose, content, methods, and procedures of this paper. The second chapter includes the introduction of Shostakovich’s life, the musical style and the special compositional materials. The third chapter explores the creation background and analyzes the “Cello Sonata in d Minor, Op. 40”. Chapter IV, the author provides a suggestion of how to interpret this sonata according to this study. The last chapter is the acquaintance and conclusion of the author.
