The participants were 189 parents of resource class students .Using the questionnaire research method, the findings were as follows: 1. The after-school program had received favorable recognition from the parents of the resource classes. 2. Most of the parents were satisfied with the after-school program, especially with the academic assistance in children’ s homework. 3. The main factors affecting the parents’ satisfaction were teachers’ patience, safety of environment, peer acceptance , period of time, and fee. 4. The highest need expressed by the parents was for academic guidance and support. 5. There was no significant difference revealed in the needs between the parents with children of different genders. 6. The parents who had first and second grades needed more help in daily life care, talents teaching, sports and leisure activity for their children than the parents who had children of third to sixth grades. 7. The parents who have children with mid-to-low disabilities needed more academic assistance with their children’s assignments than the parents who have children with serious disabilities. 8. Big families, small families and single-parent families needed more help in taking care of their children for after-school life than grandparent families. 9. There was no significant difference shown in the needs for the after-school program among parents with different kinds of jobs. 10. There was no important difference indicated in the needs for after-school program among the parents with different ranges of monthly income. The findings of this study provide suggestions for educational authorities, elementary schools,and for further studies as follows. 1.Suggestion for the educational authorities: Elementary schools can be designated to implement the after-school program. 2.Suggestions for the elementary schools: Academic guidance and care-giving in children’s after-school life need to be more strengthened.More diverse activities for the first and second graders in the resource class need to be included.Some refreshments are suggested to be served for the children.Computer lessons, music lessons, movie-viewing and internet activities are proposed to supply for children with severe or above disabilities. 3.Suggestions for future studies: Studies can focus on parents of elementary school pupils or junior high school students of particular categories of disabilities.In addition to a questionnaire survey, interviews can be joined in the methodology. Studies may consist of the source of teachers and budget.
