It is fundamentally a positive attitude. Martin et al. (2003) find the four main dimensions of humor style, affiliative humor, self-enhancing humor, aggressive humor, and self-defeating humor, and regard humor as a multidimensional concept. Also, emotional intelligence occupies important parts in positive attitudes. It includes emotional cognition、emotional expression、positive motivation、emotion regulation、emotional reflection. Some studies argued that humor is related to other positive characteristics, especially to self-esteem and emotional intelligence. According to the above, this study attempts to investigate the relationships among humor style, self-esteem, and emotional intelligence. 668 students from junior high schools in Taipei County participated in the research. . Two-way ANOVA, T-test, Pearson’s correlation, Multi regression, and Canonical correlation analysis were used in the study. The results found that students’ self-esteem is higher than the average, and these students prefer to use positive humor style and emotional expression. According to gender effect, male students show more aggressive humor and higher self-esteem. Conversely, female students have higher emotional intelligence. Older students have more negative humor and higher emotional intelligence. The differences of gender and age do not make the direct interactions among humor style, self-esteem, and emotional intelligence. Furthermore, this study found positive motivation significantly influence self-esteem Positive humor style is positive correlated to self-esteem, but self-defeating humor is negatively correlated to self-esteem. Also, the findings indicated that emotional intelligence is positively correlated to positive humor style, and negatively to self-defeating humor. emotional expression and emotional cognition are positively correlated to affiliative humor and aggressive humor. Finally, emotion regulation and emotional reflection are positively correlated to self-defeating humor, and negatively to aggressive humor. According to the above findings, this study found the relationships among humor style, self-esteem, and emotional intelligence. It provides useful information in both practical and academic fields of education and future humor studies. CHEN,XUE-ZHI 陳學志 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 116 zh-TW |
