Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 教育政策與管理研究所 === 96 === Abstract This study is aimed at understanding the current status of social capital and life adjustment of immigrant mothers’ children, analyzing the differences in background variables, and exploring the relationships between social capital and life adjustment. This study targets the immigrant mothers’ children in Taipei City junior high schools, including the first 3-year in public whole schools, by using of a questionnaire survey, and using purposive sampling to collect data of 437 valid samples. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA and Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) were employed to analyze the data. The conclusions of those surveyed are as following: 1.Immigrant mothers’ children had good family support and a good overall life adjustment. 2.Gender, grade, type of family and the fathers’ occupation of immigrant mothers’ children performed no differences in overall social capital and the individual dimensions. 3.There were no differences in life adjustment with relation to grades and mother’s religion of immigrant mothers’ children. 4.Girls were significantly better than boys in the peer and learning adjustment. 5.Immigrant mothers’ children who lived together with one of their parents, or with one of their parents and parent-in-law, adjusted better with teachers. 6.The better the father’s vocational prestige had, the higher the family support and the children’s learning adjustment were. 7.The better the mother’s vocational prestige had, the higher the family support and the children’s learning adjustment were. 8.Children whose fathers who had higher educational background showed to get more resources from family support and school network, and adjusted better in family and learning. 9.Children whose mothers who had higher educational background showed to get more resources from family support and social integration, and adjusted better in family and learning. 10.The children with mothers’ nationality being from southeast Asia, were higher in social integration. 11.The children of mothers with Christian and Catholic religious beliefs, were higher in social integration. 12.SEM indicated that family support and social integration of children of immigrant mothers was significantly positive in affecting to life adjustment. Based on these conclusions, recommendations for educational authorities, junior high schools and their teachers, immigrant families and future studies were provided.
