Through this study, the current applications of interactive multimedia among primary school teachers, difference among teachers with different background variables in their applications of interactive multimedia, as well as difficulties encountered and solution adopted could be understood. Based on research findings, conclusions and suggestions were proposed to primary school teachers as a reference for application of interactive multimedia to visual arts instruction. Questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted. Through a literature review, the “questionnaire on current applications of interactive multimedia in primary schools in Taichung County” was designed to collect empirical data. A total of 292 questionnaires were distributed to 75 public primary schools, and 250 responses were collected. Of the 250 responses, 244 were valid. The collected results were later analyzed using mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and etc. Besides, “a guideline on the interview of application of interactive multimedia to visual arts instruction with primary school teachers in Taichung County” was designed. Three groups of subjects were selected, including disciplinary teachers, teachers taking an administrative position, and directors for the fourth and sixth grades. From each group, two teachers were selected and interviewed. The interview records were also analyzed and discussed. From the research findings, three major conclusions were obtained. Firstly, primary school teachers in Taichung County widespread applied the interactive multimedia to visual arts instruction in the arts and humanities learning area domain. Secondly, there were significant differences in the current applications of interactive multimedia to visual arts instruction in the arts and humanities learning area domain among school location and size, teacher’s posts and gender , teaching years and teaching hours and teacher’s information literacy. Thirdly, difficulties in the current applications of interactive multimedia to visual arts instruction in the arts and humanities learning area domain could be lack of time, facilities and equipments and teacher’s information literacy. Finally, suggestions on three aspects, including individuals, environment, and software content were proposed.
