The celebration and rituals have become one of the most important religious events in the world. Mazu‘s patrolling and pilgrimage is the largest scale religious event in Taiwan. Hundreds of thousand believers and followers from all over Taiwan composed an immense pilgrimage procession. Some results of the research also show the benefit of Mazu’s festival is that increasing local pride, introducing new arts experiences and providing a healthy boost to the local businesses. Therefore, Mazu’s festival development is really important to local communities. The purpose of this study is to understand the attitude of place identity to local resident toward this festival . This study utilizes questionnaire survey method to survey 301 resident opinion. The study shows that the resident of Dajia are not very interest to participate in this festival .Because they thought there are many garbage in Dajia when the festival was happened. On other hand, the resident of Dajia thought there was no help to add income. Based on the results of the study, this study finds that if the resident felt more positive about the the festival, they will feel more positive about the place where the festival happened.
