Therefore, all kinds of activities and phenomena in reality are changed through time. Space and time is indivisibility indeed. However, traditional GIS applications just touch on spatial and attribute data regardless of time factor. How to integrate traditional GIS applications with time is the important issue on spatio-temporal GIS.
Land-use zoning needs to be adjusted appropriately according to evolution of humans’ activities and changes of environment. So it is the major subject of urban and region planning. When we want to understand the process of land-use zoning change through time, we need to use spatio-temporal GIS system to manage and record spatial, attribute and time information.
In this case, I try to use the character of land-use zoning data, object-oriented concept and time factor to implement the management system of land-use zoning of urban planning by integrating GIS system with relational database management system (RDBMS) and expect to proof that the spatio-temporal database is workable in trace and management of land-use zoning change.
