In addition to being applied to storage, flash is now also used as cache to improve system performance, such as Intel Turbo Memory Technology. There is such a tendency in terms of not only personal computers but also embedded large-capacity flash memory in hand-held devices. This shows that flash memory will be not just storage, and it will be an important component in system. However, under the limitation of the design of Memory Technology Device(MTD) layer, there has not been a large-capacity NAND flash simulator in Linux until now. It is very inconvenient to research and develop related products. In this thesis, we propose a Disk-Based Extra Large NAND Flash Simulator to meet the need.
