To successfully drive the RGB LED backlight module, a smart digital controller which takes the forward voltage – forward current relationships of the RGB LED modules into account is first proposed to control the proposed driving circuit. Next, the compensation circuit design for discontinuous conduction mode boost converter is discussed and different current sharing methods are presented and compared. Finally, simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed system. According to the experimental results, the presented system can successfully drive the RGB LED backlight module, and the dimming and color-mixing function can be achieved using the developed HMI and driving system.
